The "Adventure Design Kit" is the third official expansion of Hero Quest, published for the first time in Great Britain in June 1990. This expansion contains one quest, printed behind the box. The quest makes reference to Skulmar, Chaos Sorcerer, that escapes to the end of the second expansion, “Return of the witch lord”. In the quest of the “Adventure Design Kit”, Skulmar comes defined “Deathmaster”. The “Adventure Design Kit” must be played once concluded the expansion “Return of the witch lord". The main innovation of this expansion is represented by the new large character sheet, where record equipment pieces for which there are not available cards (because acquired by other players). Moreover, on this new large character sheet it is possible to record gold coins in the appropriate field. At last, it is possible to apply the official adhesive in the appropriate shield, when the character becomes Champion. The new large character sheet, being an update of the old one, must be used also for successive 3 expansions.

The quest printed behind the box does not quote the wandering monster, that obviously is Zombie. The quest does not quote the values of the “Deathmaster” Skulmar, that has the same values that had in the expansion “Return of the witch lord”
